Tour du Mont Blanc

A ride that all bikers should do!

The tour takes place around the massif of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe with its 4810 meters of altitude. It's definitely a ride that all bikers should do!

Magnificent scenery around the "Giant of the Alps" through Italy (starting from Courmayeur in Aosta Valley), France (Savoie and High Savoie) and Switzerland (canton of Valais). Our suggested itinerary, carefully selected among many possible variations, winds on country roads and wonderful trails, going through scenery so beautiful it takes your breath away: alpine lakes, forests, mountain villages, steep rock walls, massive glaciers, long glacial moraines, green pastures and flowering meadows. We have specifically developed for you a route that avoids the paths not indicated for bicycle, minimizes the stretches of portage (only a few hundred meters in altitude well spread over the 8400 total!), and stretches of paved road.

Who is it for

This tour is open to bikers with a good workout and good technical skills to ride an MTB. The trail leads along unpaved roads and on trails that usually have a solid and smooth  ground, but which may also have rather uneven and irregular parts, with some natural obstacles (eg. rocky steps or roots). The cyclability is around 95%. At some points of the route should be necessary to push or carry the bike.

The stages:

  • Day 1: Courmayeur (I) – Les Chapieux (F) ; 30 km and 1600 mt D+
  • Day 2: Les Chapieux (F) – Les Contamines (F) ; 38 km and 1500 D+
  • Day 3: Les Contamines (F) – Trient (CH) ; 56 km and 2600 D+; possibility of partial lift by cable car to lessen the distance and the height difference (about 700 meter height difference)
  • Day 4: Trient (CH) – La Fouly (CH) ; 30 km and 1400 mt D+
  • Day 5: La Fouly (CH) – Courmayeur (I) ; 33 km and 1100 mt D+

We arrange the luggage transport between one stage and the other in such a way as to pedal with only a small backpack containing the need for a day. In addition an assistance vehicle can help in case of technical failures or any other problems.
