Introduction
The tour runs for about 110 km. and about 4000 meters of positive height gain. Goes through the Swiss-Italian border, in the heart of the West Pennine Alps, with the presence of super peaks over (Grand Combin 4314 m) or graze the 4000 m (Mont Gelé Mont Vélan 3519 m and 3731 m). It crosses landscapes of medium-high mountain with coniferous forests, predominantly red spruce and larch, and shrubs all over its highest range. We will ride along country roads that spin up to higher alpine pastures (so-called tza), along the historical irrigation canals of Aosta Valley (the rus), crossing three hills full of history (on the riding direction Col Fenêtre Durand, the Col de Mille, amazing because of its wonderful scenery and the famous Col du Grand St. Bernard) and passing beside two large artificial lakes (Mauvoisin dam and Lake Toules).
Who is it for
This tour is open to bikers with a good workout and good technical skills to ride an MTB. The trail leads along unpaved roads and on trails that usually have a solid and smooth ground, but which may also have rather uneven and irregular parts, with some natural obstacles (eg. rocky steps or roots). The cyclability is around 95%. At some points of the route should be necessary to push or carry the bike.
